Basics:
Basu was born in New Delhi, India, in a Bengali family. She is the second of three daughters of her parents, the oldest being Bidisha, and younger-Vijayeta. Although born in New Delhi, her family later moved to Kolkata.
She had done the modeling and quality quite by accident, because they had originally planned to study medicine.
